English text of all the talks from last weekend’s general conference is now online.

As additional elements are added online, we will note them on the general conference page.

So here’s a question. The text version of the talks.. are they what the church leaders prepared before actually giving them? Or are they a transcription of what they actually said?

I ask this because I noticed a line in President Packer’s talk that was not included in the text version. I’m assuming he simply was prompted to add this in while reading the text version of his talk, and therefore it’s not included in the text, but I’m curious nonetheless.

The text posted online has been reviewed by the speakers after the conference. They sometimes contain minor edits to make them ready for publication.

I realize that this may be way out of your responsibilities or control, but what is the possibility of getting more Arabic-language conference materials, specifically the text?

I realize the tax that is ocurring already on some of the servers, especially *around* conference time when people listen in on the various audio streams, refresh the archive page every five seconds expecting the transcripts to be up, and hit the play button eight times in WMP. For these reasons, I realize fully that there may just not be enough of an audience to justify it.

But I’m just throwing my opinion out there. I’m actually a student of Arabic trying to get more real life audio and text. I read it a lot better than I speak or hear it.

I can only listen to the BBC and and al-Jazeera for so many hours a day. Most all audio out there is either political (news), religious (recordings of the Qur’an) or purely instructional and not realistic. I would like something gospel oriented. Since most sessions, as I understand, were translated into this language, it seems disappointing, to me at least, that it’s no longer available.

October Conference text is now available in many languages. From LDS.org (http://www.lds.org/conference/oct2006/archive/0,20232,7058-1,00.html):

“Online text is available in Bulgarian, Cantonese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Fijian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Mandarin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Samoan, Spanish, Swedish, Tahitian, Tongan, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.”

Great to see these online the 1st day of the month. There is so much work that goes into Conference. It is amazing.
