Internet Trends

The USC-Annenberg Digital Future Project has published the results of their sixth annual survey of Internet use and trends. (See highlights at http://www.digitalcenter.org/.)
Highlights of the highlights:
  • More than three-quarters of Americans are Internet users; 77.6 percent of Americans age 12 and older go online.
  • 50% of US Internet users access it through a broadband connection. Only 37% still use telephone modems.
  • For the first time, the percentage of women going online was higher than the number of men.
  • US Internet users who keep a blog has more than doubled in three years (now 7.4 percent of users).
  • The number of US users who post photos online has also more than doubled in three years (now 23.6%).
  • US Internet users who maintain their own Web site is now 12.5 percent.
